Mission Housing

In June of 2000, Dr. Al Vom Steeg, president of the Mission Society for United Methodists in Norcross, Ga., dedicated our parsonage to be used as a home for missionaries on furlough and it became the LMUMC Mission House. The Rice Family were our first missionaries in residence. Since then The Kipuke Family, The Datwyler Family, and Ms. Judy Clark have established their home base here at Lewis while raising funds to return to the mission field. Our current missionaries in residence are Graham and Sharon Nichols. To find out more about The Nichols go to www.themissionsociety.org/people/nichols.

Lydia Project

Lydia Project http://thelydiaproject.org/
The mission of the Lydia Project is to provide tote bags to women undergoing cancer treatment. The tote bags are a symbolic and visual reminder of prayerful and spiritual support. Scraps of fabric that would have been thrown away are seen in a new light when matched, stitched and monogrammed by volunteers for the purpose of encouraging and supporting women facing cancer. Each tote is monogrammed with the word “Faith,” “Hope,” or “Love.” Inside are practical and inspirational items of support generously given through individual and corporate donations. Lydia totes are always free of charge to any woman undergoing cancer treatment and are made by the loving hands of volunteers. Here at Lewis we support Lydia by having “Sew and Cut” Days and help fund raiser during “Lights for Lydia”.
